What is coasteering?
It’s a wonderful mix of traversing, climbing, swimming and jumping your way around the bottom of cliffs where the sea meets the land. The Pembrokeshire Coast is dotted with cave arches, stack rocks and channels to explore and has swell pools and pour overs to play in.
The location and original home of coasteering, is at St Non’s which is an incredible place 1.5 miles from TYF’s HQ and the birth place of St David. It’s the stretch of coast that Lonely PLanet called “The greatest region on Earth to visit in 2012”.
Coasteering is a magnificent way to explore personal limits, overcome fears, increase personal confidence and of course enjoy a few hours of pure adrenalin-soaked fun whilst bonding with family and friends.
Our coasteering experiences…
You’ll be discovering the incredible coastal national park by foot, from a perspective very few people experience. Scrambling, leaping and traversing along the bottom of the coast where the sea meets the land, one of the most powerful places on the planet. There are some amazing jumps, a whitewater toilet that flushes you in and out. Our fantastic guides will show you how to coasteer safely whilst pushing you to your limits.
As you journey along the dramatic Pembrokeshire coastline we’ll point out all sorts of creepy wigglers, birds, plants and rocks and tell you interesting things about their natural habitats and how they are changing due to climate change.
Suitable for anyone aged 8+ who’s comfortable in the water.
We’ve had some fantastic feedback recently and this one below is one of our favourites.
“I just wanted to drop a quick email to say a huge thank you for what was, quite simply, the best day I have had outdoors! I visited the centre on Saturday 4th September, and took part in a Coasteering session in the morning and climbing in the afternoon. Both activities were superb; the coasteering was new to me and pushed my limits superbly, but even as an experienced climber the afternoon session was brilliantly differentiated and appropriate for all. Your instructors were simply fantastic, positive and considerate without pressure and with a superb manner. They are a credit to you and your company, and are perhaps the main reason why I will come back again, bringing as many family members as I can!”

We had some lovely letters of thanks last year, this one made us smile!
“Just a quick note to say “THANKS” for the half day Coasteering on Saturday. There were 2 adults and 6 squeaky teenage girls. Rob our guide was excellent and everyone had great fun bobbing on the calm waters. TYF is a credit to British tourism. Keep up the good work and hopefully see you later on in the year for more laughs.”

Our latest coasteering offer and one we are incredibly excited about.
Two days of exlporing the Pembrokeshire coast by foot, we’ll be discovering new routes that require a much greater skills set. You’ll need to build up the experience and hours of coasteering on shorter routes (minimum of three half days) and check off the Coasteer Basic Safety to be able to join the best guides on coasteering expeditions on wild coastlines where long swims, deep caves and isolation need to be taken into account.
The first day begins with a team briefing to discuss the weekend ahead, then as a team we’ll plan the best route, prepare kit and safety equipment and head for the coast where our experienced adventure guide will teach you some of the most important skills, we’ll put these skills into practice as we make our first exploration.
Day two – We’ll pick a route that ensures the very best coasteering conditions and based on the individual group decide on the most exciting plan of action, whether you want to concentrate on covering a big distance or explore a new route and discover new playspots and caves. It’s up to you! Whatever you decide we’ll make sure you are pushed to your limits and leave TYF with the most amazing stories.
Perfect for adventurous families, adults and groups looking to progress and push the limits of coasteering whilst learning some of the vital skills that have kept our customers safe for the past 25 years.
On a calm day it is possible to explore caves, when it gets rougher hold onto your hats – it can be a rollercoaster ride!
The BBC’s ‘Holidays Out’ programme called it ‘the best liquid refreshment you can get’ and Everest mountaineer Chris Bonington found it ‘immensely enjoyable’. But you don’t have to be a TV presenter or a Himalayan climber to enjoy this fantastic new sport. BBC’s Julia Bradbury came coasteering with us in 2009, click here to see how she got on!
